| Mirk |

|

|
|
Meet “Mirk”- a handsome, blue eyed,
tri-coloured youngster, born April 20th 2007. A half brother to “Ceri”;
he is also sired by Peter Gonnet’s “Moss”, out of a smooth coated bitch
named “Gail”, who has been a very useful cattle dog for Peter, as well
as a producer of very versatile, steady-minded offspring. Gail’s
breeding includes Peter’s former “Mac”, who went back to Longton’s
“Glen”; who was imported and sold through Sask. Agribition a number of
years ago, and was handled by Dale Montgomery – Glen was a
tremendous large flock dog, and sired offspring with lots of power and
working ability.
Mirk has a very happy, responsive personality, and gets along with all
dogs and people. He shows a great deal of promise in his work, in that
he is starting off very keen, with a confident, fearless approach to
sheep, and yet is very responsive and easily handled. He has
‘kind power’ and is not excessively grippy, but has a sensibility and
resiliency that I look for in prospective top work and trial dogs.
Watch for future updates, as Mirk’s training gets underway this
spring/summer....! |

If it was possible to
turn back the clock eleven years, then it would be hard to imagine a
pup more reminiscent of Ryan, than his young son, Rick ! I couldn’t be
more delighted with this pup, as he is fearless and confident, yet very
responsive and steady-minded. He has his father’s terrific structure
and substance, and is already ‘working’ anything that moves. He goes
back to my foundation sire, “Vic” on both sides of his pedigree at the
third generation- so not surprising that he also reminds me in ways of
his great grandfather as well... !

Talented, well
started young male for sale: “Fling CBCA 4060”, born March 7/2005.
“Fling” will make a very talented sheep trial dog, or working
flock dog, and is ready to trial P/N this season. He outruns,
drives, knows flanks commands and is on whistles. His foundation
training was done with Martha McHardy on the Parry Bay flock, and then
he has spent the fall with Peter Gonnet in Sask to further his
experience and skills. Two litter sisters are both trialling
successfully in Novice, and Fling is easily handled and straightforward
to work with. The top side of his pedigree includes Peter Gonnet’s
‘Moss’, Martha McHardy’s “Vic”, and he goes back to Daziels’s ‘Wisp’ on
his maternal side. See “For
Sale” page for

Rainier’s Ryan CBCA 134747
|
|
After many years of
competing at local, national, and international levels, Ryan’s last
trip to the post with Martha McHardy was at the West Coast Sheepdog
Trial, where at 10 ½ yrs of age, he finished Second on Aug 19th
under judge Randy Dye. Over his long career, Ryan qualified and
competed at both USA and Canadian National Finals multiple times, as
well as won and placed in many local trials throughout the northwest.
At home, he has been a tremendous large flock dog; always ready for the
toughest job and unfailing in his desire to work; he shone under the
most challenging conditions, that showcased his great command and feel
for stock. I am honored to have had him for my partner these many
years, and am grateful for the time we shared, and for what he taught
me in our time together. He was unique: not just in coloring - but in
the high regard I held for him.

Meet the new dogs
that have joined MarCar kennels this spring… |
I recently acquired this large smooth coated male dog, as I was
impressed by his natural feel for sheep, and fluid, smooth working
style, which was deceptive, given his size. Scott has a cool headed
method of work that I like, with the ability to handle ewes and lambs
with calm authority. He is sired by imported Scott, by Templeton’s Spot
ISDS 210921. I expect him to be an easy dog to finish his training to
trial standards - watch for him in the upcoming year. Scott” is DNA

CABC 110232- himself a littermate to Peter Gonnet’s Moss CABC 110231,
out of a K. Kuykendale bred bitch, Gwen CBCA 4330. His lines also
include Dale Montgomery’s Gyp, who has won the Calgary Stampede
Stockdog Championships more times than any other dog to date, T
Wilson’s great dog Roy ABCA 3455, and imported Glen ABCA 42194; son of
Longton’s Roy ISDS 166366. This stylish young tri-colour male brings
lots of intensity and talent to his work, and has an abundance of
courage and intitiative that is balanced by his responsiveness to
