	One day in late January 1992 or early February, Myrna (daughter-in-law) told me she had a homework assignment to do for a course she was taking in Health Care nursing. She was to interview an old man! "Would you let me interview you?" she said. "I just have to find out some of the things that were done in the old days"!. Well, maybe that wasn't exactly how she said it, but it did get me started at making notes about my childhood, so I would be prepared for her interview. As my notes stretched out into pages I began to get really involved in this memory trip. With some encouragement from our kids I decided it may be a good idea to try to span the 1920's with the 1990's and see if anything interesting would come from it. Many thanks to Rosemary for the typing, prodding, suggestions, patience and encouragement over the past year. Without this help, this would never have become a reality.

PREFACE
