Whats New? Summer/Fall 2008 Updates……!
The summer has flown
by, and it has been some time since updates were last posted. Here are
some highlights from MarCar kennels;
Changes in
the dog roster:

New faces:
Introducing “Bella
CBCA 5338” Born Sept 8th 2006
|

|
This talented
daughter of P Gonnet’s “Moss CABC 110231” and granddaughter of N
Close’s “Joe CABC 110407” arrived in the summer of 2008 and is showing
great promise. She is a happy, resilient dog, with a lot of natural
ability with her sheep. She will be co-owned with Martha and Linda
Larsson; with Linda handling her for trials and work, and Martha
retaining breeding access to her after she finishes starting her in her
training.

Introducing
“MarCar Ken” (son of Berhow’s Pete X M McHardy’s Ceri ) Born Feb 10th
2006
|
|
As
Ceri’s only offspring, I am indebted to Bill Berhow for allowing me to
buy back “Kenny” this summer! He appears to combine some of the best
characteristics inherited from both his parents’ considerable talents!!
I am very excited to have him home, and think he has a great future
ahead ! Watch for further updates re this talented fellow!

| “Geoff’s last trip
to the post with Martha was at the July Metchosin Sheepdog trial, where
he won the High Scoring Senior dog award – the annual trophy
commemorating his grandfather “Vic”. Geoff had a very successful
trial career, which included competing at the US and Can. National
Sheepdog Trial Finals, and was well known throughout the western trial
circles. See the copy of the article published in the “Lookback’
journal of his memoirs. |
Obiturary
Deceased: MarCar Shane CABC 119653 Aug 1997-July 2008
|

|
Hardworking and loyal
to the end, Shane succumbed to heat stress related causes after sorting
market lambs on one of the hottest days of the summer. He is sadly
missed and always remembered. His progeny are known far and wide, for
their stunning range of accomplishments, in both traditional and
non-traditional roles across North America.

Trialing Highlights
and Results
Although
we didn’t compete in a lot of trials in 2008, MarCar dogs were in
the top placings in the ones attended…. Ceri, especially, was very
consistent in the top placings ; winning one of the larger
winter/spring series trials hosted by Dirk Vansant in Wash., she was
second at one of the days at the Metchosin trial, and was 5th in the
Double Lift Final at the Lacamas Valley Sheepdog Trial in Aug, 08 in a
large competitive field. Rhaq was ‘in the middle of the pack’ in most
of the same Open trials, and Scott in P/N, had several strong showings
with placings in the top five spots in his classes.

Winter Litter 08/09
Stay Tuned for
updates on a Molly CBCA 4350 breeding ….sire to be determined.
Pups from her first litter are showing great promise in both sheep work
and agility homes. As one of Shane’s last daughters, she is a key
breeding bitch for MarCar Border Collies, with her sweet nature,
natural working ability, terrific structure and genetic soundness.
