DOG SPORTS
MarCar Border Collies as Sport Dogs

As more Border Collie owners are discovering a variety of dog sports in which they can compete with their active Border Collies, a number of dogs from MarCar breeding are starting to make names for themselves in areas other than traditional stock work. I believe that the qualities that I strive to select and maintain as part of my breeding goals for a top-quality working dog, are qualities that will allow that individual to perform at a very high level in a variety of other venues. The qualities and skills required of a dog to work and compete at the very advanced levels of stock work, test the dog in a manner that is very rigorous.  Not only does the dog need to be a very good athlete, but they also need to have an extremely good mind.  High drive needs to be tempered by good sensibility, an internalized capacity for self-control, along with initiative that is  balanced with good judgment   - these are the qualities that I'm always seeking in the dogs that I breed and train.

This page features dogs from MarCar breeding, who are pursuing careers as competitive sport dogs.
